Smart Pilot View Kit
Key facts:
- For Airbus H125 / AS350
- 6.25x improved vertical visibility
- Retains original RH pilot door
- Enlarged lower viewing aperture (0.17 m² / 1.82 ft²)
- Transparent belly fairing and sill
- Optional removable cover glass
- Compatible as new build or as de-modification from MPVK
Overview
The Smart Pilot View Kit (SPVK) provides the largest possible visibility improvement while retaining the original pilot door. Designed for Airbus H125 / AS350 helicopters, it increases vertical visibility by a factor of 6.25 compared to standard solutions. The system is composed of five groups: lower fixed frame, cowling frame, lower window, sill, and transparent floor panel.
The Problem
Operations such as sling loading, SAR/EMS, firefighting, powerline inspection, and law enforcement require downward visibility and unobstructed pilot awareness. The standard H125 / AS350 cockpit provides insufficient field of view, causing:
- Reduced safety margins
- High pilot workload and fatigue
- Dependency on ground crew during load operations
The Solution: SPVK
- 6.25x vertical visibility improvement
- Retains original RH pilot door
- Enlarged lower window aperture with transparent belly fairing
- Removable cover glass: prevents falling object damage and can be removed to reduce reflection
- No operational disadvantages – all door configurations remain according to RFM
- De-Modification Kit available to return to standard AS350/H125 configuration
Advantages
- Improved operational safety in all weather conditions
- Higher efficiency – reduced cycle times in sling and survey work
- Less pilot fatigue and greater comfort
- Increased resale value of the aircraft
- Insurance savings possible
Current Status
- SPVK available for Airbus H125 / AS350
- Designed to maximize view with original door intact

How much visibility improvement does SPVK provide?
Up to 6.25x greater vertical view compared to the standard floor window.
Does the SPVK keep the original pilot door?
Yes, the original RH pilot door remains intact.
What is the aperture size?
0.17 m² / 1.82 ft² – the largest achievable with original door retained.
Can the cover glass be removed?
Yes, for specific operations (e.g., to reduce reflection).
How long does installation take?
Approx. one week (80–90 man-hours).
Which helicopters are compatible?
Airbus H125 / AS350 versions B2/B3.
Does it affect other operations?
No, there are no disadvantages – all RFM door configurations remain valid.
Is there a de-modification option?
Yes, the kit can be removed and helicopter reverted to standard configuration.
